Ruel is a pop and R&B singer whose work also draws on soul and indie pop, and he records for Giant Music. Free Time arrived in 2019, and Kicking My Feet followed in 2025, marking a run that has kept him releasing steadily since his teens.
The break came from a home recording. Born in Isleworth, Ruel was singing James Bay's "Let It Go" when his father sent the demo to producer M-Phazers in 2015. The debut single, Golden Years, landed in 2017.
Recognition came quickly after that. He won Breakthrough Artist at the 2018 ARIA Music Awards for Dazed & Confused, then took Best Australian Act at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards and Favourite Aussie/Kiwi at the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. On stage he has played the Hollywood Palladium, The Warfield, and the Vogue Theatre, making him a sought-after live act for college events, festival and fair lineups, corporate dates, and private shows.
