Ruger is the stage name of Michael Adebayo Olayinka, a Nigerian singer-songwriter who moves between afrobeats, dancehall, and Afro-pop. He announced himself with PANDEMIC in 2021, a release that went Platinum in Sub-Saharan Africa, and has kept building from there: RU The World followed in 2023 and BlownBoy RU in 2025. He now records for Promised Land Recordings.
He came up in Lagos. The 2021 single "Bounce" made his name, and a recording deal with Jonzing World put a machine behind it.
Ruger works as a solo artist, and the touring has taken the show well past Nigeria, with dates at Indigo at the O2 Arena, Metro Theatre, and The Fortitude Music Hall.
