The HU emerged from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2016, forging a genre-defining sound known as “Hunnu Rock”—a fusion of traditional Mongolian throat singing, ancient instruments like the morin khuur and tovshuur, and thunderous hard rock. Their debut album The Gereg introduced global audiences to hits like “Wolf Totem” and “Yuve Yuve Yu,” earning chart-topping success and over 320 million streams. Their follow-up, Rumble of Thunder, expanded their sonic reach with tracks like “This Is Mongol,” showcasing their boundary-pushing artistry and cultural depth.
Renowned for their commanding stage presence, The HU have electrified sold out arenas and major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, Download Festival, and Lollapalooza. Their live performances are cinematic and immersive, blending spiritual intensity with raw power. Critics consistently praise their concerts as breathtaking and ambitious, with fans chanting and crowd surfing in unison. The band has toured extensively across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, sharing stages with Iron Maiden, Five Finger Death Punch, and Megadeth.
Currently, The HU are riding the momentum of their Echos of Thunder EP and preparing to release their third full-length album. Their recent live album Live at Glastonbury captured the energy of their landmark performance in front of over 210,000 fans. With UNESCO’s “Artist of Peace” designation and collaborations with Metallica, Papa Roach, and Halestorm, The HU continue to be a cultural phenomenon, redefining what global rock music can be.
